Uber Eats for Restaurants
Project Overview
With a growing demand for delivery services, it became crucial for Uber Eats to stand out in a competitive market and help merchants attract more customers. The challenge was to create a robust, multi-regional, and multi-language marketing website that effectively communicated the tools available to merchants using the Uber Eats platform.
We collaborated closely with Uber Eats to design and launch 30+ landing pages tailored to different regions and languages, enhancing their ability to attract diverse customer bases worldwide. My role involved working with the creative director to extend the brand's visual identity, developing new design components, and ensuring a cohesive and compelling user experience across all pages.
Key insight
A Growing Demand for Delivery
With more customers seeking doorstep delivery of everything from food to flowers, Uber Eats needed a marketing site that highlighted its versatility and appeal to a wide range of merchants. The website had to effectively communicate Uber Eats' robust tools and benefits while establishing a clear competitive edge in the marketplace.
Multi-Regional and Multi-Language Capabilities
Designing a multi-regional and multi-language site posed unique challenges. We ensured that each landing page was not only localized in terms of language but also tailored to fit cultural contexts, allowing for maximum engagement with merchants from different regions.
Content Blocks
Content blocks play a crucial role within the Samba Design System, ensuring design consistency and development efficiency across all Uber platforms, from websites to apps. These content blocks are predefined guidelines in the design system, created to maintain a cohesive visual language and user experience throughout Uber’s digital ecosystem. By providing standardized design patterns, content blocks enable designers and developers to work more efficiently, adhering to precise specifications that ensure seamless integration across mobile, tablet, and desktop environments.
Specific rules within the design system guide the effective use of content blocks. For instance, the amount of copy in each item’s headline, body, and CTA should be consistent to maintain visual harmony. While the block can contain several items, it is recommended to use no more than four, especially for mobile responsiveness, to prevent overwhelming the user and ensure readability.
Leveraging Figma’s Auto Layout for Content Blocks
The content blocks within the Samba Design System are built using Figma's Auto Layout feature, a powerful tool that streamlines the design process by making it easy to create and manage responsive layouts. By utilizing Auto Layout, content blocks can effortlessly snap into the design grid, ensuring perfect alignment and consistency across desktop, tablet, and mobile versions.
This feature simplifies the creation of landing pages by allowing designers to quickly adjust spacing, padding, and alignment, making the design both scalable and responsive without requiring manual adjustments for each breakpoint.
Navigation & Menus
An effective Navigation and Menu system was essential for the Uber Eats for Restaurants landing pages. We developed a Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Menu structure to provide clear access to key information.
This layered approach ensured users could easily find relevant information, enhancing their experience and engagement across all devices. It was important that this navigation system was fully responsive across desktop, mobile, and tablet, providing a seamless and intuitive experience, regardless of the device, and encouraging users to explore the platform fully.
Color, Typography and Assets
In designing landing pages, the use of color, typography, and visual assets was key to conveying the brand’s message and enhancing engagement. Within the Samba Design System, color created visual hierarchy and highlighted key CTAs, while typography ensured clarity and guided users smoothly through content. Visual assets, like icons and images, simplified complex information and reinforced Uber's brand values. Together, these elements crafted a compelling and user-friendly experience, effectively communicating the benefits of partnering with Uber Eats.
Summary
The Uber Eats for Restaurants project showcases our ability to create visually compelling and strategically sound digital experiences that drive engagement and deliver results. By leveraging the Samba Design System, we crafted landing pages that seamlessly blend brand consistency with intuitive user journeys, ensuring every element—from color and typography to content blocks and visual assets—worked in harmony to convey key messages and inspire action.
